But They Are So Normal Revisited

Since grovestreet couldn't come up with any logical reasons not to homeschool she resorted to the socialization myth Adult Children of Homeschool, complete with an unverifiable quote from a former homeschooler. I have dealt with this BS so many times before I am just going to direct you to But They Are So Normal.

Neither of my kids, both teens now ever wanted to go back to public school and were thrilled that they were homeschooled. But then again my eldest started college at 16.

  1. I thought Grove Street considered herself a Gonzo blogger, and wants her blog to be considered fiction. Since it does resemble fiction more than reality, I won't be taking anything she says seriously.

  2. The supposed quote from the supposed homeschooler definitely sounded like FICTION, bad FICTION at that.

  3. From the "ANNOYING ANTI HOMESCHOOLER" Who sounds angry? Anyway..Anger - sarcasm "whatever" proves the point. I do not need to provide logical reasons for my opinion. I will educate you on what an opinion is? Then you can pass it along to your child.

Opinion-An opinion is a person's ideas and thoughts towards something. It is an assessment, judgment or evaluation of something. An opinion is not a fact, because opinions are either not falsifiable, or the opinion has not been proven or verified. If it later becomes proven or verified, it is no longer an opinion, but a fact.

  4. Grove Street, most people at least those with some intelligence do some research on a subject before forming an opinion, instead of spouting nonsense.

You are entitled to your opinion however illogical and mean spirited it is.

  5. OMG I am laughing my head off. That most recent post was over the top. She even edited to say she's enjoying reading what we say about her. What is up with that?

Well, I've seen a lot of oddball stuff on the internet. I'll just lump this all together as useless self-indulgent drivel. It makes me laugh though to see people behave this way online.

Do you suppose she is like that in person? I have met people in person who actually act that way, and they don't hold my attention for long. Or perhaps she's holding in all this anger and has found anonymous blogging to be a good outlet. Whatever the case, she's not likely to influence anyone's actual school/non-school decisions with her OPINIONS. Luckily there are a lot of really good blogs and resources on the internet where people can really evaluate the various sides of the debate.

She actually deleted all the comments on her blog. What a waste. Like you, I have only deleted comments from one person who was writing very ugly things (we all know who).

And by the way, I agree with her that "it is O.K. to put your child in school." It is. It really is a perfectly acceptable choice. So is private school.

  6. You know I have always wondered why some people get so hung up on homeschooling.

Apparently grovestreet has no problem with private schools as an alternative to public schools, so why can't she see that homeschooling is just another alternative.

  7. I find the deleting of comments funny. She's now removed the context within which she made her responses. New visitors will likely be scratching their heads at her over-the-top writings.

It seems to me that if all the responses were really so outrageous they should have been left to keep her looking justified. Of course they weren't outrageous, just challenging and I guess she's not up for a challenge.

  8. //I do not need to provide logical reasons for my opinion.//

Why not? You provided a lot of illogical ones. Surely you could have used a little logic or reason.

  9. Oi. That was snarky of me. Apologies.

  10. Dawn, I love the snarky comment.

You know she seems to think she was perfectly justified in using the gonzo style of writing to attack homeschoolers, but wants to cry foul when it is employed against her.

Somebody seriously doesn't understand how the world works. Or maybe labouring under the delusion that all homeschoolers are Fundamentalist Christians, she just thought we would turn the other check and she could be as nasty and mean spirited as she wanted.
