FIRST! This is absolutely sickening. Homeschooling kids holds them back socially. Learning to socialize with your peers is just as important as your education. I bet these mothers will say that the kids get enough interaction with their peers at their church, but the church cannot teach you about interaction in the real world.
I guess somebody forgot to tell raiderbarry that not all homeschoolers go to church. I guess they also forgot to inform him/her that homeschoolers play on recreational sport leagues and are involved in their community.
I find that most people that oppose homeschooling know very little about homeschooling. They also know very little about public schools, the curriculum that is taught or the teaching methods used. I personally feel that my children could not have a better teacher than my wife. She has a double major in Mathematics and Computer Science and six years experience as a Senior Programmer in your real world. She is more qualified than a public school teacher that barely passed high school math who majored in bulletin board design with an emphasis on drawing smiley faces to make the world a better place. I am not slamming all public school teachers. I am a product of the public school system as is my wife. I have very fond memories of qualified teachers that lived to educate. They have made differences in my life and hundreds of others with a desire to learn.
ReplyDeleteI can’t say that I am sorry that my children are missing the public school experience. I have not had one shot at school yet or pregnant at thirteen. The problem that I see in public school is that education is not the primary purpose anymore. Socialization and Indoctrination are now the goals. They want children to learn to deal with the growing madness that consumes these schools. I want my children to see the madness and know it is not the norm; it does not have to be the way they live and that they can make a difference in the world.
I would like to say to anyone that opposes homeschooling, send your kids to public school and leave the rest of us alone. I pay my taxes to support the public schools and then purchase a separate curriculum to educate my own children. Be happy that I am helping you pay for the daily babysitting service that you are getting.
It was also mentioned that all homeschoolers don’t go to church. We do and I am proud of that.
