The data does suggest that as a nation, critical reading and writing are lagging behind the progress we are making in math, Mr. Camara said.
Possible reasons for the low scores.
- The length of the test. The test takes 3 hours and 45 minutes, when you factor in things like breaks the total time is 5 hours.
- More people took the ACT instead of the SAT due to the disclosure that the SAT had mis-scored over 5,000 exams.
- Fewer people took the SAT more then once.
